How it works

From a box of paperwork to a pack SARS can check

Everything that can be automated, is. What’s left for you is a short, specific review queue. You’ll never be handed a spreadsheet of a year’s receipts.

  1. 01

    Sign the mandate

Before any document changes hands, you sign a short mandate and POPIA consent. It sets out what we process, how we do it, and how long we keep it.

  2. 02

    Send your documents

Scan or photograph every invoice and receipt for the tax year, download your bank and credit-card statements as PDFs from your banking app, and upload everything through the client portal. Scans read best. If you only have a phone, take photos flat-on in good light. Anything we can’t read lands on your checklist to redo, so nothing gets silently lost. Rather send the actual paper? Choose the paper intake add-on and courier us the box: we scan everything and return your originals with your pack.

  3. 03

    We read and match

Private, on-device AI classifies every document, pulls out the figures, splits eligible from non-eligible items, and matches each expense to the bank payment that cleared.

  4. 04

    We check your certificates

Your scheme's own certificate is read alongside everything else. What the scheme already reported (code 4020) is kept separate from what it never saw (code 4034).

  5. 05

    Every sum is checked

The AI never adds up anything itself. Ordinary code re-adds every row and checks that eligible plus non-eligible equals what you paid, every time. Where gap cover paid out, we subtract those recoveries before finalising your claim, because SARS only allows what you couldn't recover.

  6. 06

    You check only what's flagged

Low-confidence reads and anything unclear go into a short review queue, shown next to the source page. You're never asked to re-check work that's already solid.

  7. 07

    The checklist clears

Missing certificates, unmatched payments or a gap in a statement month show up on a plain checklist. We chase what's missing before anything gets packaged.

  8. 08

    You get your pack

A numbered, submission-ready supporting-documents pack: schedule, cover letter, every file under 5MB. Ready for you to file, or to hand to your own tax practitioner.

What to gather

Before you send anything

  • Every medical invoice and receipt for the tax year (scans or clear photos; originals only with the paper intake add-on)
  • Medical scheme tax certificate(s) (ITS3(a)) and the claims extract
  • Bank and credit-card statements covering every month of the tax year
  • Gap cover annual claims or payout statement, if you have gap cover (for example Sanlam Gap, Turnberry, Stratum, Discovery Gap, Kaelo)
  • Marriage or dependency certificate, if claiming for a spouse or dependant
  • ITR-DD disability confirmation, if applicable

Not sure your phone photos are good enough? Check one before you send the rest. It runs in your browser, and the photo is not uploaded.

Have gap cover? We need that statement too.

SARS only allows medical expenses you couldn't recover from anywhere else. If your gap insurer (Sanlam Gap, Turnberry, Stratum, Discovery Gap, Kaelo or similar) paid you back for any expense, that amount must be subtracted from your claim. That is why your gap policy's annual claims statement is part of a correct pack. While we're in there, we also flag anything you can still claim from your gap policy before its submission window closes: recovering 100% from your insurer beats a 25% to 33.3% tax credit every time.

What we do, and what we don’t

We prepare a verified, numbered supporting-documents pack for your medical expense claim. Every figure can be traced back to a source page, and every correction is recorded.

We don’t give tax advice. We don’t submit anything to SARS on your behalf unless we agree that with you separately, in writing. You, or your own tax practitioner, check and approve the pack before it goes anywhere.
